Welcome to Student Life at Texarkana College, where every student belongs, every voice matters, and every journey has purpose.
Welcome to the 2026–2027 academic year! Whether you’re joining Texarkana College for the first time or returning to continue your journey, we’re excited you’re here and look forward to being part of your college experience. College is more than earning a degree, it’s about discovering new opportunities, building meaningful relationships, and creating memories that will last a lifetime. James Baldwin once wrote, “Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced.” As you begin this academic year, embrace new opportunities, face challenges with confidence, and remember that every step forward brings you closer to your goals. I encourage you to get involved by joining a student club or organization, attending campus events, and connecting with fellow students. The more you engage, the more connected you’ll feel to the Texarkana College community.
Remember, you don’t have to navigate this journey alone. Ask for help early, communicate with your faculty, and take advantage of the many resources available through Student Life and Student Success, including Student Success Coaching, tutoring, the Student Success Video Library, the Food Pantry, Care Closet, T-Line passes, and so much more. If you are a new, transfer, or returning student, don’t forget that College 101: Student Orientation is required and must be completed by Friday, August 21. Completing College 101 is one of the best ways to start your semester with confidence and learn about the many resources available to support your success.
One of my goals this semester is to meet as many students as possible. Join me at the Built for This Mixer on Tuesday, August 11 at 11:30 am in the Pinkerton Center Gym, or at any Welcome Week activities, Monday, August 17 through Thursday, August 20. Be sure to check this newsletter for the complete Welcome Week schedule. I look forward to meeting you. I’m honored to serve as your Dean of Student Life, and I look forward to seeing you on campus throughout the year. Together, let’s make this a year of connection, growth, leadership, and success.
If you're a new student, a transfer student, or a returning student who has been away from TC for one year, remember to complete Student Orientation!

Important Update: New Loaner Laptop Process
The Student Success program has a limited number of loaner laptops and graphing calculators available for temporary student use. Beginning Fall 2026, students can no longer request or reserve a loaner laptop on their own. Here's how to request a loaner laptop.
How to Request a Loaner Laptop
The Loaner Laptop process has changed. Students must now have a faculty referral before they can be considered for a laptop.
1. Start the referral. Complete the required Loaner Laptop Faculty Referral Form. Your part of the form will then be sent to your instructor.
2. Your instructor completes the referral. Your instructor will review the request, complete their part of the form, and submit it to Student Life.
3. Student Life reviews your request. After the completed referral is received, the Student Life team will review it and contact you within two business days.
4. If approved, you will receive next steps. Students who are approved will receive instructions for scheduling and attending a Loaner Laptop Orientation.
Important: A faculty referral does not guarantee that you will be approved or receive a laptop. You cannot move forward in the Loaner Laptop process without a completed faculty referral.
The dates shown on the orientation flyer apply only to students who have completed the referral and approval process.
